New Jersey beat Pennsylvania 27-19 tonight in the annual Easton Lions Club Wrestling All Star Classic at Easton Area High School.
Somerville state champ Jim Kirchner scored a 13-4 major decision over Dieruff's Jose Arzuaga at 125. Delaware Valley's Nick LaFevre beat Freedom's Joe Finocchio 2-1 in overtime at 140 and St. Benedict's Patrick Hunter, the former South Plainfield High star, capped the night by beating Easton's Kegan Handlovic 8-7 at 119. Handlovic is a two-time Pa. Class AAA champ.
Bridgewater-Raritan's Wayne Hampton lost in three overtimes to Northampton's Mike Wechsler at 160.
Handlovic was ranked 10th in some national polls and Hunter was sixth.
Easton senior Jordan Oliver is terrific by the way. He pinned Blair Academy's Joe Stanzione at 130 pounds. Oliver finished the season with a 40-0 record and had a 175-5 career mark.
