The North Hunterdon/Voorhees Board of Education approved John Mattes as the new North Hunterdon High head football coach Tuesday night. Mattes had been offensive coordinator the last two years for former coach Dennis Haughey.
He is a social studies teacher at North. Mattes is a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High (Pa.) where he was quarterback for a state title team. His coach was current Phillipsburg head coach Bob Stem. Mattes later played at Moravian College.

Congrats to the board with not making the wrong decision in hiring Quinn. Mattes will build a winner and be better for the overall development of the student-athletes . . .
